Proposed Activities

The intention is to highlight the bridges to bring greater awareness to the history’s and cultural significance of Sullivan’s Creek and to bring awareness about our urban waterways. These activated sites will become landmarks through this active green belt. Encouraging the public to engage with these utilitarian structures and surrounding public spaces in a new ways.

Artists to respond to themes supporting Sullivan’s Trail mission.

Sullivan Trail mission is to embedded our Indigenous Stories within the landscape, educate and challenge our communities about our urban waterways, to inspire communities to find common ground through building connection to places.

YAH Artists will be mentors by Ruth O’Brien, Musician and Accessibility Advocate.

Wally Bell , Ngunnawal Elder will provide Cultural mentorship.

Graffiti artist and sculptor Byrd will provide group and individual technical mentorship for this program. During a series of sessions Byrd will support artists to translate and install their studio work into a public scale.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

Sullivans Trail is a public and history project developed to engage the community with the waterways through Canberra. Linking 'Our Mountains to Our Lake'  through the creation a cultural and creative corridor. Celebrate and strengthen cultural heritage and promote the wider understanding of the culture of indigenous and non-indigenous communities through stories collecting and place activation along the route. This project gives us the opportunity to  threading people, place, animals and birds and plants, landforms and weather into a single spool.  A cultural and art trail for our visitors to explore, for our residence to travel through and engage with, creating public ‘places of the soul’ that uplift and help us connect with people and place.
